Laws

In accordance with relevant provisions of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China on temporary accommodation registration:

No.39 Where foreigners stay in hotels within the territory of China, the hotels shall register their accommodation in accordance with the relevant regulations on the administration of public security in the hotel industry and submit the registration information of foreigners to the local public security organs.

A foreigner who lives or stays in a residence other than a hotel shall, within 24 hours after his/her arrival, register with the public security organ at the place where he/she lives.

No.76 Under any of the following circumstances, a warning shall be given and a fine of not more than 2,000 yuan may be imposed:

(1) Foreigners refuse to accept examination of their exit/entry documents by public security organs;

(2) Foreigners refuse to submit their residence certificates for examination;

(3) failing to handle the birth registration and death declaration of aliens in accordance with relevant regulations;

(4) The registered items of a foreigner's residence permit are changed, and the changes are not handled in accordance with relevant regulations;

(5) Foreigners in China illegally use others' exit/entry documents;

(6) failing to register in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 2 of No. 39 of this Law.

Punish

Foreigners must register with the local public security organs within 24 hours after entering China. If they do not register over time or fail to do so, they will be subject to administrative penalties by the public security organs, which will affect subsequent personal residence and green card applications.

Method

Documents required for temporary accommodation registration:

1: People stay in hotels or hotels after entry.

Present your valid entry document to the hotel or hotel and ask the staff to fill in the temporary accommodation registration form. These documents can be passports, mainland travel permits or residence permits for Hong Kong and Macao residents, mainland travel permits for Taiwan residents, travel permits or residence permits, etc. Take the temporary accommodation registration form issued by the hotel or hotel and your passport to the public security organ for processing.

2: stay at the homes of relatives and friends after entry.
