Report the loss to the local police station and obtain a loss report issued by the police

Go to the Exist-Entry Administration of the Public Security Bureau to apply for a “Foreign Passport Loss Certificate”

With the “Foreign Passport Loss Certificate,” go to the embassy or consulate of your home country in China to apply for a new passport. Also, visit the public security authorities to reapply for visa documents to ensure legal residence or smooth departure.

With the newly obtained passport, go to the public security exit-entry department to apply for the corresponding type of visa. After receiving the new passport, bring the new passport, the “Foreign Passport Loss Certificate,” and any other required documents to the exit-entry department to apply for the corresponding type of visa.

Additional official information: According to regulations, foreign nationals should apply for a passport loss certificate from the local public security exit-entry administration. This certificate is valid for one month.
